Who We Are
Founder Colin Montgomery is an education leader based in Brooklyn, NY. He grew up in beautiful Vermont and came to New York City on scholarship to attend college at New York University (NYU). He has his BA in French and an MA in French Studies. He then went on to study at Brooklyn College, where he received an MS Ed (Special Education). He is fluent in French.
Colin is an instructional coach and former middle school special education teacher and department head with 15 years of education experience across schools in New York City and New York State. He has worked with hundreds of families of students in Grades 1-12 to ensure their students have the right supports and skill-building opportunities to grow as learners and critical thinkers. He is an expert in the special education process and in the New York City school system. He is a permanently certified teacher in New York State and an approved Independent Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) Provider with the New York City Department of Education.
Colin has served as a tutor for over 15 years with a wide range of students across New York City, the US, and in France. He trained in NYU’s Writing Tutor Program and worked for two years in college history and political science courses, supporting peers during their essay drafting and revision process. He’s tutored middle and high school students in ELA, Math, Social Studies/History, French, essay writing, and in organizational, time-management, and self-advocacy strategies. He’s highly seasoned in SHSAT and SAT preparation, AP coursework and the NYC High School admissions process.
Colin is deeply motivated to help students in elementary, middle, high school, and college better understand their strengths and needs, engage with their learning, and sharpen their critical thinking and writing skills. He provides exceptional tutoring that is collaborative, engaging, structured, and learner-centered.
